Leading up to the 2020 US Elections, HIPSTORY collaborated on Phenomenal’s #GOVOTE campaign to emphasize female and social justice icons.
Leading up to the 2020 US Election, HIPSTORY collaborated with the company Phenomenal on their #GoVote campaign. Phenomenal CEO Meena Harris, niece of then VP-candidate Kamala Harris, wanted a campaign that would inspire voters through influential female politicians and social justice advocates.
Working directly with Harris, we chose RGB and Hillary, two female political figures that are extremely inspirational for young voters. The artist behind HIPSTORY, Amit Shimoni, also created two new HIPSTORY icons - Shirley Chisholm and John Lewis - opening the Phenomenal brand towards new audiences by bringing social justice advocates to the forefront of the campaign.
These HIPSTORY icons were imprinted on Phenomenal t-shirts, which were worn by celebrities and shared across social media leading up to the election. Seeing these shirts across the US was extremely inspiring for us at HIPSTORY, emphasizing the difference between placing art in your home and wearing it on your sleeve wherever you go. The success of partnering with an American #GOVOTE campaign, and one whose candidate won, is one we’ll never forget.
